The September PPI data of the glass industry is still positive

According to the latest Producer Price Index (PPI) of the US Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS), the unseasonally adjusted prices of glass and materials used in glass hinges manufacturer were positive in September and year-on-year price changes.

In September, the monthly PPI of flat glass in the commodity category rose 0.3% and 7.2% respectively from September 2020. According to data from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, commodity classification "organizes products and services according to similarity or material composition, regardless of their industry classification and production companies."
In the industry classification, the September index of flat glass manufacturing industry also fell slightly by -1.2% from August 2021, an increase of 10.5% year-on-year.
The industry classification measures "the change in price received by the industry's output sold outside the industry (ie its net output)."
The price of fabricated structural metal products has increased compared with last month's PPI report. The index belongs to the category of commodities, with a year-on-year increase of 36.1% and an increase of 2.9% from August. In the industry category, the decoration and construction metal product manufacturing industry index rose slightly by 2.1% from August, and rose by 32% from September 2020.
Compared with the September 2020 report, the PPI of metal windows increased by 1.2% and climbed by 13.7%. The price of metal doors and frames also rose, up 0.7% from August and up 22.8% for the year.

The cost of building hardware, including glass and glass windows, also fell slightly from the August 2021 report, at -0.7%, an increase of 11.1% from September 2020.

The National Development and Reform Commission has issued a "dual energy consumption control" policy to force high energy consumption industries to reduce or suspend production.
The solar manufacturer’s memo stated that key solar materials, including aluminum, glass, metallurgical-grade silicon and other commodities, "are in short supply."

The memorandum stated that with the advent of the winter heating season, the shortage of electricity and raw materials is expected to further intensify.
